Gay Jacob
With a degree in Marine Biology and Physical Oceanography and PhD in bio-optical oceanography (1980-1984), Gay Jacob has worked with Menai Geophysical Consultants Ltd since 1990.
Gay had 2 years post-doctoral research experience in optical oceanography and remote sensing at the Laboratoire de Physique et Chimie Marines in Villefranche sur Mer (1984-1986) and 3 years in physical oceanography in the School of Ocean Sciences (SOS), Bangor University (1986-1989), before joining the Centre For Applied Marine Sciences (CAMS), Bangor University researching into oceanographic remote sensing for UK shelf seas, polar regions and other areas and water quality survey data analysis. (1989-2014). She split her time as a Senior Lecturer in the SOS (remote sensing) and on CAMS research :
Oceanographic applications of remote sensing data & related optical oceanography:
Suspended particulate algorithm development for coastal and shelf sea waters.
Use of SST as a tracer of dynamic features.
Interpretation of SAR imagery in areas of wind-induced flow and mountainous topography.
Use of Colour and SST for algal bloom detection and monitoring.
Water quality determination and habitat mapping.
Nutrient variability in the Irish Sea.
Gay has over 10 year’s experience in project management including multimillion pound EU projects. Gay regularly works as an evaluator/assessor for various countries in the EU.
